These terms govern the use of HWKeeper: the hwkeeper.com website, the dashboard and the agents for Windows, macOS, Linux and Android. By creating an account or installing the agent, you accept these terms. If you accept them on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have the authority to do so.
1. The service
HWKeeper keeps an inventory of an organization’s computers and other devices: hardware with serial numbers, programs, connected devices and security settings. It reports when something changes. The service is used through the dashboard; data is collected by the agent installed on the devices.
2. Price and limits
- The service is free. One account can connect up to 50 computers; a larger limit can be requested via the website.
- If we introduce paid features, we will announce it in advance. We will not charge you for anything without your explicit consent.
3. Account
- Provide accurate information during registration and confirm your email address.
- Keep your password and sign-in codes secret. You are responsible for actions taken under your account and for the people you invite and the roles you give them.
- If you suspect someone has gained access to your account, change the password and write to privacy@hwkeeper.com.
4. Installing agents and monitoring laws
- Install the agent only on devices your organization owns or is authorized to manage.
- You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to monitoring devices and employees, including privacy and labour law. Inform the people who use the devices about the monitoring, especially about location tracking and network discovery. Both can be turned off in the agent settings.
- Do not use the service for covert surveillance of individuals or for any other unlawful purpose.
- On Windows and Linux the agent can block unknown USB drives according to your rules (blocking is not available on macOS). You are responsible for the rules you set up.
5. Prohibited use
- Attempting to access other organizations’ data or bypass access restrictions.
- Interfering with the service, overloading it or testing its vulnerabilities without our written permission.
- Reselling or providing the service to third parties without an agreement with us.
- Using the service in violation of the law.
6. Your data
- The data collected by your agents belongs to you. We process it only to provide the service, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- You give us the right to store and process this data to the extent necessary to provide the service.
- You can delete devices and users in the dashboard at any time. To delete the whole account, write to privacy@hwkeeper.com.
7. Third-party services
Alerts to Telegram, webhooks to your systems and other connections to third-party services work under those services’ own terms. We are not responsible for their operation.
8. Availability and changes
- We do our best to keep the service running, but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation: maintenance, failures and network problems are possible.
- We develop the service and may change, add or remove features. Some features require an up-to-date agent version.
- If we decide to shut the service down, we will notify account administrators at least 30 days in advance.
9. Suspension and termination
- You can stop using the service at any time: remove the agents from the devices and ask us to delete the account.
- We may suspend or close an account that violates these terms, puts the security of the service or other customers at risk, or when required by law. Where possible, we will warn you in advance.
10. Disclaimer
The service is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that every change on every device will be detected, or that alerts will arrive without delay. HWKeeper does not replace backups, antivirus software and other security measures.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages, lost profits or lost data arising from the use of the service or the inability to use it. Our total liability is limited to USD 100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Claims related to your monitoring
If a third party makes a claim against us because you used the service in violation of the law or these terms (for example, monitoring devices without a legal basis), you will compensate us for the resulting losses.
13. Changes to the terms
We may update these terms. We will announce significant changes on the website and by email to account administrators at least 14 days before they take effect. If you continue to use the service after that, you accept the new terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the operator’s place of establishment. Mandatory consumer and data protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. Before going to court, please write to privacy@hwkeeper.com — we will try to resolve the issue directly.
15. Languages
These terms are published in several languages. If the versions differ, the English version prevails.
